Real-time Wireless System based on Multiple Bio-signal Parameters for Drowsiness Detection

چکیده
In recent years, traffic accident is one of the critical reasons to cause deaths of drivers. Drivers’ drowsiness has been implicated as a causal factor in many accidents because of the marked decline in drivers’ perception of risk and recognition of danger, and diminished vehicle handling abilities. Consequently, if the mental state of drivers could be real-time monitored, drowsiness detection and warning could effectively avoid disasters such as vehicle crashes in working environments. Some previous researches used non-physiological method, as eye closure with CCD image tracking, such as the pupil recognition, blink detection or identification of the drivers head shaking frequency. However, for CCD image tracking, users couldn’t move for free, and the images detecting performance were easily be interfered by external flash light. Other studies used physiological parameters to increase the accuracy of drowsy detection, like pulse wave analysis with neural network, electrooculography (EOG), electromyography (EMG), and electroencephalogram (EEG) measurement. In this study, we proposed a real-time wireless system for drowsiness detection. A wearable, wireless and real-time bio-signal acquisition system was designed for long-term

Every year, many people lose their lives in road traffic accidents while driving vehicles throughout the world. Providing secure driving conditions highly reduces road traffic accidents and their associated death rates. Fatigue and drowsiness are two major causes of death in these accidents; therefore, early detection of driver drowsiness can greatly reduce such accidents. Results of NTSB inves...

Frequent accidents are commonly hitting the headlines nowadays due to the moment that the driver is careless. Mostly the accidents are common during night time due to the drowsiness of the driver. Adopting this as a major issue the evaluation of Brain Computer Interface technology leads to develop a drowsiness detecting system based on EEG signals. The main objective of this project is to devel...

This project is the extension of NATSRL FY 2008 and FY2009 projects, titled as “Real-time Nonintrusive Detection of Driver Drowsiness”, which aims to develop a real-time, nonintrusive driver drowsiness detection system to reduce drowsiness-caused accidents. In our previous research, nonintrusive sensors for driver’s heart beat measurement were developed and implemented on the vehicle steering w...
متن کاملA Brief Survey: Drowsiness Detection Systems Using Different Feature Extraction Algorithms
Driver Drowsiness is one of the leading causes of road accidents. It affects the mental vigilance of the driver and reduces his personal capacity to drive a vehicle in full safety. These factors increase the risk of human errors which could involve deaths and wounds, which highlights the need to develop a system that can alert drivers of their drowsy state prior to accidents. It is important fo...
